A critical element of our clients brief was to incorporate the existing Pepper Tree, which is situated in the middle of the plot, into the design of their house. The resulting scheme consisted of 3 barn like buildings, with high walls and vaulted ceilings, connected by open glass walkways. The ‘left over’ spaces created a series of pocket courtyards. The use of the glass walkways ensured maximum direct and natural sunlight throughout the home. Height restrictions did not allow for a traditional second story but resulted in modern loft bedrooms which the clients were delighted with.
